Most iconic horror movies franchise

So anyone that truly knows me, knows that I'm a huge horror fanatic. However when it comes down to picking a favorite horror movie franchise I can't ever do it because there are so many franchises that have been pivotal to the success of the genre. So just to highlight some of my personal favorites. Halloween for example put the concept of the "final girl" (Jaime Lee Curtis) into the spotlight. The original 1978 film was a low budget masterpiece that focused on suspense rather than gore. Even though Halloween didn't invent the slasher genre it definitely helped popularize it. Then you have Nightmare on Elm Street. A franchise so iconic it made me scared to fall asleep for a decade like hello? This could actually happen possibly?! Robert Englunds portayal of Freddy Krueger was so dark and twisted making Freddy one of the most cultural horror icons to date in my opinion. Third you have Scream. This franchise has a more humor feel to it in my opinion especially in the first film where you have Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy as part of the main cast. When I think of the term slasher film, this is definitely the franchise I refer to. Ghostface was not only popular on screen it was a big Halloween item in the late 90's early 2000's shit I was ghostface at least twice. It's newest installment is set to release in 2026 with the return of the absolute greatest final girl Sidney Prescott along with a a few other legacy characters. Any horror fans out there? Let me know what you guys think about my top picks and what are your go to horror movies?
